First, let’s get the winner of the h.h. gregg $100 gift card out of the way:
AMANDA!
Amanda said she’d buy a “Spri Professional Plus Silver 75cm Exercise Ball and a yoga mat!”
Congrats! Email me at kristen@followingfit.com with your mailing info so I can get your prize to you this week!
I had a lot of fun testing out the Polar HRM from h.h. gregg, so I was really happy to be able to give one you the chance to get your own.
But if you didn’t win this gift card giveaway, don’t forget that you can still win fitness prizes from h.h. gregg via their facebook page! You still have a few days to get in on those!
In other news, I’ve been trying to hit my workouts a little harder this week since I took some light lifting and light cardio days last week. Today was just a cardio day, but since I hadn’t done any cardio circuits in a while, I thought that would be a good Saturday workout.
Here’s what I did — it took me about 25 minutes. And then I was done for the day:

You can do more or fewer rounds if you like to meet your own cardio level. I, however, had sore hamstrings already today, so I didn’t want to do more than five rounds. Five rounds is already 150 walking lunges per leg! That was plenty!
I don’t eat a solid meal these days until just about noon, so while I was working this morning, I had a small protein shake to make sure I wasn’t starving when I went to do circuits.
I ordered a few new protein powders from Netrition.com this week, and I was happy to try this one this morning:

I’ve never tried a vegan protein powder (other than Vega samples), and I have heard that Sun Warrior is one of the best. I like that it has no sucralose, something I am trying to get away from, and still has very few carbs for a protein sourced from rice, peas, etc.
I bought the chocolate flavor, and here are my thoughts:
- easy to mix — no lumps even when using plain water
- good flavor and not super sweet
- not the greatest texture — grainy
I would still, however, drink this despite the grainy texture. I like the nutrition stats on it, and sometimes I need a really small meal like this if I will be doing cardio late in the morning but before my first full meal.
So, verdict?
Good stuff.
Next on the list of new things to try:

I haven’t even opened this yet, and I bought it in the chocolate peanut butter flavor.
I purposely chose this brand because it is a whey protein with no sucralose and not a lot of added junk.
I’m trying to cut the junk from my life, and that includes the junk in protein powders.
Anyone try this brand? Am I going to love it?

I have never tried it because I don’t eat WHEY but… I have heard great reviews and I have heard the flavors ROCK! I think they offer samples on their web site, go check it out and see if they can send you some free samples before you make the commitment to buy a big tub!
I already bought the About Time one in chocolate peanut butter; I just haven’t tried it yet and probably won’t until tomorrow!
I haven’t tried either proteins, but I hear good things about both. I’m curious to hear what you have to say about About Time!
The plan is to use the whey post-workout with a carb supp and use the other one when I need something to eat but don’t have time for food (i.e. while training clients on a Saturday morning). About Time should get opened tomorrow!
